Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor best known for portraying detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue in which she was awarded the Emmy Award. Also, she has appeared in dramas such as All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives and CSI: Miami. She was born as the only child to a senior executive of the United Auto Workers and a homemaker Delaney grew up with her four brothers. While she had a childhood goal of becoming a journalist, it wasn't until her high school years that she began modeling. After moving from New York City and gaining experiences as a commercial model at New York did she achieve the career as aspiring court reporters. In 1981, she starred as a naive teen in the film All My Children. Since then Delaney has been featured in many films television movies and dramas. Contrary to her impressive professional career, Delaney's private life isn't as content and successful. In the past, this accomplished actress battled alcoholism and had two marriages that failed. Her custody was taken away from her son in the year 2005.
